POTUS Announces First Hispanic Cabinet Pick (Secretary of Labor) + Forthcoming Immigration-EO-4
Earlier today, President Trump held a news conference to announce his new Labor Secretary pick, Alexander Acosta. During the news conference, Trump stated that he will issue a new Executive Order on immigration next week to "protect our country," and also mentioned that the government would appeal the Ninth Circuit's ruling against his travel ban. When asked about rescinding DACA, the president again promised to "show great heart," adding that "DACA is a very, very difficult subject" for him. Acosta, the son of Cuban immigrants and current dean of the Florida International University School of Law, is a former member of the National Labor Relations Board, a position he was nominated to by former President George W. Bush. He clerked for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito when he sat on the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and practiced law at Kirkland & Ellis in Washington.
