Matter of Castro-Tum: Review of Administrative Closure - Briefs Deadline Extended

In Matter of Reynaldo CASTRO-TUM, 27 I&N Dec. 187 (A.G. 2018), the Attorney General referred the decision of the Board of Immigration Appeals to himself for review of issues relating to the authority to administratively close immigration proceedings, ordering that the case be stayed during the pendency of his review.

To assist in his review, the Attorney General invited the parties to the proceedings and interested amici to submit briefs on points relevant to the disposition of the case. The original deadline for interested amici to submit briefs not exceeding 9,000 words to AGCertification@usdoj.gov was February 9, 2018.

"Various amici have filed a consolidated request for an extension of the deadline for submitting briefs. The deadline for submitting briefs by amici is extended to February 16, 2018, and the deadline for submitting reply briefs by the parties is extended to February 23, 2018."

A copy of the order extending the deadline can be found here.
